Perfect
Binding
uses a gluing
process to
bind a book's
text pages
to the cover.
|
Perfect Binding is a softbinding method that uses a hot glue process and allows for both front and back, as well as spine imprinting Text pages are printed and folded in signatures (several pages on a sheet), collated in order and stacked on top of each other. These signatures are then pressed together and the binding edge is ground to expose the paper's fibers. Hot glue is applied to the roughened edge to make for a secure bonding. The bound books are trimmed on three sides of the document, top, bottom and face (the opposite side parallel to the spine).
Typical projects utilizing Perfect Binding include:
- Annual Reports
- Glossy Magazines
- Paperback Books
- Retail and Product Catalogs
- School Curriculum
- Street and Business Directories
- Telephone Books
